LDA go live date

As part of our business process reengineering, the City of Edmonton’s Planning and Policy Services Branch implemented an on-line application process for subdividing land. This system has been operational since Jan 2005.
We are now expanding this system to allow all clients and the public to apply for all rezonings, road closures, plan amendments and subdivisions as a Land Development Application (LDA). This project is known as e-Apps. The new Land Development Application will collapse all current land applications into a single one.
The new procedure uses the Internet as the sole method to apply to change the status of land within Edmonton. This process includes making applications and uploading digital plan amendments, subdivision plans, and any other required digital supporting materials (i.e. copies of the Land Title Office documents) over the Internet.
The new LDA process will give the Planning Department more time to facilitate quality development and to apply better rigor and advice to City Council on applications. This new process provides transparency into the City’s land development application process. All LDA applicants will be able to track the progress of their application(s) to up to the decision point.

Benefits of this new process include
· Customers will be able to track the status of their applications.
· Council and citizens will be able to see what applications are in progress.
· Referral agencies will be able to access applications on-line and make their comments directly on the document.
· Customers will be able to see referral agency comments immediately.
· The on-line information is accurate.

It is our intent to effect this new system on June 12, 2006. At that time, the City’s Planning and Development Department will no longer accept paper land development applications.

Eapps Project 2006

In the near future, the new Land Development Application (LDA) will replace all current land development applications (i.e. subdivisions, plan amendments, rezonings, and road closures). This new application is an on-line version of the applications. Applicants will be able to fill out one form with their choices controlling what they will see and what information will be required.

This change will expedite the application, circulation and review phases of all applications. This fact will in turn help the Planning Department to have more time to facilitate more quality development and to apply better rigor and advice to City Council on the application.

There are many benefits of this new process:
· Customers will be able to track the status of their applications.
· Council and citizens will be able to see what applications are in progress. There will be a link to public meeting information.
· Referral agencies will be able to access applications on-line and make their comments directly on the document.
· Customers will be able to see referral agency comments immediately.
· The on-line information is accurate.
